You aren't the only one, there are many people on the Internet who have
complained about this.  BTW, there's a newer version of DISK64E (which is
the program I've used) available.

The modems will normally come with cables - I think I have a few around
here somewhere!  The best terminal program for the 64 is Novaterm 9.5.

There might be retailers who still sell modems for the 64 - perhaps one of
the other readers of this echo will be able to put you onto one if you
decide to buy a new one?

64NET is a package which allows you to use your PC as a file server for
your 64.  The hardware consists of a cable to go between your PC's parallel
port, and the 64's User port.  The software is a small wedge at the 64 end,
and the PC server program.

It is currently in final beta test (and also waiting for me to finish the
manual! :) and should be officially released "soon".
