AFAIK, Maximus requires a file called MSGTMP##.$$$, where "##" represents the
node number. You'd have to configure an external editor to use this file
naming scheme or (possibly) rename the file in a batch. For example, if I
log into my local node and post, the filename created is MSGTMP02.$$$. Max
has no problem importing the message after saving. Maybe someone else in
this echo can help you with IceEdit.

Hmmm... I thought... well, I tried it from remote some time ago as an editor
for batch files, etc. It worked in that environment (no DoorWay) but I've
never set it up as an external message editor.

I sent you a good one. :-)
