Thanks Jasen ..

Actually, now that I think about all this, this isn't so off topic for old
computer echo anyway! It's one of the oscillator coils in the original
Story and Clark Organo units, grin. Sadly, the wire gauge is down about
number 30 or 40 it is so tiny, gloom. One of the coil leads failed just
off the solder terminal on the coil form and I have to splice it.
These units, which, together with the Lowery efforts, were the first
electronic organs, They use the highest frequency oscillator for each key
of the octaves and divide down from there each step in half to get the next
lower octave note! This tone bank is the "C" note bank. All the
rest of the whole system I've totally restored, HUNDREDS of mylar caps
replaced in the whole thing. It was totally working evey note, every key
contact. Every resistor checked and so on plus a museum grade physical
restoration of all the mechanical parts of the piano that go with it.
Probably a couple hundred hours of time for me so far. It was so
satisfying to have the complete instrument totally working again as a
project.
But this "C" note failed, gloom. And this is why.
If you stop and think, even this is the fore-runner of the whole CPU
oscillator and divisor gate operation for choosing your CPU speeds in this
and that! It's just that in 1952 they didn't quite have transistors and
LSI and such yet!
;)
Thanks for you thoughts, but the idea sounds to caustic, grin, for a number
30 or 40 wire size issue! In humor here, of course.... wry grin.
--> Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)
