He may be referring to the fact that Windows code was notorious
for very long and difficult switch statements... In Windows 95
they have implemented special macros known as "message crackers"
that replace most of the long switch statement code. It's still
very complex, but it makes it a hell of a lot easier for mortal
applications programmers.
