JF HOPPMAN was thinking about Punishment and keyed into cyberspace:
JH>MARK, i dont think that the punishment is all that much "tougher"
JH>but at the same time it is.I think that punishment should fit the
JH>crime and the times...100 years ago children were not punished as
JH>"hard as they are to day"but then again they knew that if they didnt
JH>respect or didnt do their duties, that they would get a
JH>punishment, ever since people stopped "punishing their children(as
JH>hard or as often)look at what has happened.im not saying you should
JH>beat a child, but at least have a stricked set of rules and make them
JH>pay for not following,i also think that if PARENTS WOULD CONTROL
JH>THEIR CHILDREN,THE CHILDREN WOULD LEARN TO Control THEM SELVES(not
JH>the answer to world peace ,but hey!it is a start..)
JH>hope you dont mind me typing my mind.....
Some children are extremely hard to control, simply because they have a
disorder which, by its very nature affects their ability to control
behavior. This disorder also directly impairs the child's ability to
learn self control.
What works for the child without ADHD generally does not work for the
child with ADHD. However, adherence to simple rules is something that
the ADHD child should be expected to do. Traditional "punishment" does
not work in this area until you get the child into the mode where they
are terrified of their parents. However, other things do work. This, of
course, must be in a setting where the parents know what they are doing,
and have infinite patience.
JH>(and yes i have kids)
