Dieter, at 12:02 on Jul 26 1995, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

BG> Oh really? My version of Qedit can handle files of up to (and maybe
BG> even in excess of) 16Mb. Of course, it IS the commercial OS/2
BG> version... :)
DM> Where did you get it from ? Direct from Semware ?
Er, not quite. Mine is actually an "unofficial evaluation version". :)
I forget exactly who gave it to me now, but I seem to recall that it was
originally downloaded from a high-security local pirate board (not by me).
DM> And did it include the DOS version as well ?
Mine didn't, but I dunno about the original distribution disks. According
to the README contained in the archive I received, I believe it was meant
to.
Sorry for the verbosity of the following, but I interpret it as stating
that both the DOS and OS/2 versions are supplied together.

Notes
ÄÄÄÄÄ
The ONLY file required to run QEdit is Q.EXE - the others are not required
by the program.
The QEdit Advanced 3.0 for DOS files are stored in the DOS subdirectory of
the directory where the QEdit 3.0 for OS/2 files were installed.
The configuration data files (qconfig.??? and qhelp.???), sample macros
(macros.txt) and spelling checker word-lists (semware.lex, user.lex) are the
same for the OS/2 and DOS versions of QEdit; therefore, only one copy of
these files is supplied, in the QEdit for OS/2 subdirectory.
To use semware.lex with the DOS version of QEdit, either copy it to the
directory where the DOS QEdit is installed, or set the configuration option
"Full Path to QEdit files" to the directory where the word-list is stored.
See pages 42 and 55 in the QEdit Reference manual for additional details.

Note the inclusion of a spelling-checker at long last? There are several
other new and useful features, but I refrained from wasting bandwidth by
posting them here. Dunno what it costs, but it's a superb editor, and
worth every cent. :)
Regards, Bill
