| subject: | Os/2 c++ programming? |
BK>Responding to David Noon from 1998-12-02 concerning OS/2 C++ BK>Programming?, on Os2prog BK>Hi David: DN> Funny looking address. It doesn't have a com, gov, edu or org ahead of the DN> .de suffix. Still, if I need some support on EMX I'll give it a try. BK> Top level Internet domains ideally should all have a BK>country code, which 'de' is for Deutschland. The BK>Americans are the only ones with top level 'gov', BK>'mil', 'org', 'edu', and 'com', although now Internic BK>has commercialised 'com', so it is available world BK>wide, for a fee. I think the USA should use 'us', but BK>I have never seen it. It is there at some level. The U.S. primary, secondary and vocational school system uses it. An example is the domain of the Adult school system in a local California community; bpace.k12.ca.us defined as school system name, Kindergarden-12th grade and adult, state of California, United States of America. The U.S.A. college and university system of course still just uses .edu as a top level with no country indication. There is probably some obscure reference that says lack of a country identifier defaults to the U.S.A. Also I am pretty sure that it is in the name of some of the IRC servers and a few .net domains like ca.us.ibm.net etc. but that is not top level which is what I guess you are talking about. --Lynn * SLMR 2.1a * Wreck the malls with cows on Harleys... --- DB 1.39/004485* Origin: The Diamond Bar BBS, San Dimas CA, 909-599-2088 (1:218/1001) SEEN-BY: 396/1 632/0 371 633/260 262 267 270 371 635/444 506 728 639/252 SEEN-BY: 670/218 @PATH: 218/1001 3615/50 140/1 396/1 633/260 635/506 728 633/267 |
