Hi, Ernie;
I have tried several times to crashmail this to your BBS today without
success! I just can't get past the handshake! So I will have to let it
go this way.
The radio got here just fine today! THANK YOU!
A couple of questions though:
1) I have tried everthing I can think of to load the frequencies. I hold
FCN until it says prog in the upper left, punch in the channel I want to
program, hit * and I get a flashing PROG, but from there I hit a brick
wall. Please send directions for this ASAP, preferably netmail or ask Bob
Patten, (your SysOp), if he would be so kind as to crashmail it to me. (I
will keep playing with it to see if I can figure it out.)
On second thought, I _MIGHT_ call you some time Saturday afternoon. (This
msg will let you know what I need if I can get it to you before I call).
2) Is there a charger available, or can it be charged through the external
speakermike jack? (Or will I have to add a minijack for charging if I can
find room?) While I'm at it, are extra batteries available anywhere?
If nothing else, can you give me the connections for the bottom of the
battery pack please? Do you have any idea what the charging current for
these is?

I have made a cheap-and-dirty charging stand for it, with the thought of
using only 2 of the 4 contacts using 6-32 screw heads. Can you tell me
which ones to use?
I tried taking voltage readings between these terminals, and between the
two marked (1), (2) and (B) give me 0 to the contacts on top, and I got
-9.8V to the + terminal on top, but the terminals marked A gives me a few
milivolts. This leads me to believe that the + terminal is (A), and there
is a blocking diode in series with this line. Also, the fact that tere
are 4 terminals suggests that this is a rapid-charge battery. Do you have
any further information about it?
BTW, did you get the msg that I passed Tec plus? Going for General in
July.
Moderator: Sorry, I know this is off-topic, but I need to get this
information quickly, as I expect my call letters to be here Monday or
Tuesday, and I was unable to get crashmail to him. I hope you
understand that I am very anxious to get back on the air as soon as my
call arrives.
Agn, many tnx es 73.
