What's going on is XP & to a degree Win2K was "good enough"
& now MS is trying
to move from selling staple food to staple food encased in icing
& truffles.

Meanwhile the Linux/BSD (inc Apple) etc (& Open Office etc) are
becoming "good
enough" esp as the network becomes the most important thing about the computer
for many/most.

So MS is trying to tempt you in with icing & truffles w/o telling you that
they're trying their new & improved with poppy products recipe.
