That in effect is what's happening now when people are saying that they'd
rather download poor videos of films shot in the theater with a camcorder
than pay the going rate.  Or download music where they pick the tunes they
want rather than buy into some record company's idea of a
"package" and pay $20 for it...

Long-term,  I'm sure this is going to have some effect on the
"actors" in the business,  and the others around them.  I've seen
SF written on the subject,  where the appearance,  the personality,  and
the mannerisms can come from different people,  to be combined in the
computer.  I guess those folks aren't as important as they think they are
after all.

They don't seem to be that economical these days either.

Yes they will.  I just wish they'd go ahead and do so before they pass any
more legal abominations like the DMCA.
