G'day Paul,
As you mention you're a newbie to the echo, the first thing I'd like to
point out is that the echo has a long history. Part of that history is
being as rude as possible. I didn't make those rules, but I sometimes
follow them. Figured I'd mention it, because I'm a very nice person
normally.

He shows up every few years with election stuff that has stuff all to do
with the people in the echo. IE, it's all stuff local to HIM, but not
local or relevant to anyone else here.

And to further explain, he has not been 'cut off'. He can send whatever
crap he likes to the echo.
Some of us on the echo (about 6, I think) use a mailing list to access
the Fidonet Avtech echo. I'm the person who 1) runs the list, and 2)
pays all costs involved in receiving and forwarding the echo to the
folks who use the mailing list.
I simply am NOT forwarding on his messages to the other 5 or 6 people
who receive the echo in mailing list form. Why? His dozen or so
messages to people who've sent messages to the list in the last six
months with essentially the same text in the message is what I would
call excessive, especially considering his election crap has nothing to
do with anyone here. It may only be a few cents in data charges, but I'm
not paying to send it on. It's my list and my prerogative.
So those who receive the echo in regular Fidonet format will continue to
see his messages (if he posts any), but those who are on the mailing
list format won't.
So welcome to the AVTech echo, but you're off to a bad start, what with
being nice and all. :-)
For instance, I regularly tell Bob Lawrence to get stuffed. Just
following the rules. I'd tell you too, but since you're new, I'll cut
you some slack.
OH, something else you should know. We're NEVER EVER on topic.
Cheers,
Gaelyne
