Not if you rename FORMAT.COM to something else, and all normal formating is
done from a batch file, where you can only format A: or B: by answering  A
or B

I _NEVER_ type the word format on any command line !!!!

I work on the principle of putting into place all the safeguards against
loss of data that I possibly can.  That way I don't lose data until I hear
that unforgetable sound of the heads scratching into the aluminium plates.
It's happened twice so far, and I just hope that Murphy isn't reading my
mail today. :-(
