DESIREE LOUVRE was thinking about Barkley's Answer and keyed into
cyberspace:
DL> -=> While eating Chocolate, Desiree had this to say: <=-
DL> MP> I recently mentioned that I wrote to Russell Barkley about ADHD
DL> MP> kids receiving both more frequent and harsher discipline than
DL> MP> their non-ADHD peers. With his permission, here is the
DL> MP> response:
DL>___------------------
DL> MP> However, that should not be the case for very long. One of our
DL> MP> interns has been searching for a research topic for their
DL> MP> doctoral dissertation in educational psychology, and just fell
DL> MP> in love with the idea. You may expect her to be in touch with
DL> MP> you in the near future.
DL> MP> Of course, you do realize that designing such a study will be
DL> MP> only one of several major hurdles she will have to overcome. I
DL> MP> feel that your issue is in good hands.
DL> MP> I do not think that I need to comment on this. Dr. Barkley has
DL> MP> said it all.
DL>I am impressed! Please keep us posted! Okay... next question... who
DL>is Dr. Barkley? And why have I heard his name before? Which
DL>clinic/institution is he out of?
Dear Desiree:
Russell Barkley is Clinical Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
at Massachusetts General Hospital which is the teaching center for
Harvard Medical School, where he also teaches.
He edits the ADHD Report, a professional journal for psychologists,
social workers, etc. and me (I subscribe, even though it is pricey).
He has also authored several books and appears on several TV shows when
ADHD is part of the topic.
