I agree, yet although my VS-606 Akai HiFi is a 6-head beast with LP, I only ever use that mode if there's no other option (say, going away for several days). That gives me 4 hours on the Sharp, and up to 8 hours on the Akai. Trouble is, no matter how good the VCR, there's still a loss of quality and resolution in LP, and it becomes quite noticeable on my 29" Panasonic CTV.
