We've had a few situations lately where we seemed to be going one
step forward & one step back, but today we were batting a thousand. 
The rehab centre tends to empty out on weekends... especially on long
weekends... because there's not much going on & most of the kids who
can go home have done so.  We take Nora out at such times because her brain
still works apart from the minor detail that it's not connecting very well
with her left arm & leg at the moment, and we both want to encourage
her to keep her brain active.


                      Now, as for this weekend...

          Nora needs new shoes.  Last Saturday we went to a store which
somebody had recommended & got a salesman who did his best but didn't
really have a clue. Then Dallas phoned another which had been recommended
to us & said basically "We need xxx... who do you have who
understands such matters & when is s/he on duty? Good, we'll be there
to see him at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday."  We got an individual who
understands that a teenage girl wants to look pretty, even though she has
an orthotic in one shoe & a splint in the other... and that her parents
are willing to shell out more than they'd ordinarily pay for a pair of
shoes if that is what she needs, but will also be quite relieved if they
don't have to buy *two* pairs in different sizes!  Details on request for
those in the Vancouver area....  :-)

          On the way home Dallas & I stopped at London Drugs.  I
checked out the housewares section, on a hunch, and found ceramic inner lip
bowls at six dollars each.  For people who can use only one hand, such
items are a blessing.  And the only one I've seen in the specialty
catalogues is about thirty dollars....  :-))
