Actually, you're both right; it's from a tape of Milwaukee's weekly
90 minutes of Prog radio. It immediately precedes the Sunday night
10:30-midnight "Womyn's Music" show. I probably misspelled that.
I accidentally found out about it in a rare visit to a music store
last month. The DJ had apparently printed and posted some flyers...
I forgot to tape it last night, but the preceding week they said
the show's been on for three years. Good thing it's a noncommercial
college station.
 CR> Now there's a nice thought,
 CR> anyway...the all-prog radio station...
I doubt if I could listen to it constantly,
but it'd be a nice choice to have.
Somebody's finally trying out the "Adult Alternative" radio format
in Milwaukee, which gives more choice, but not much more interesting
music. Hootie fans now don't have to risk hearing Pearl Jam. You
can maybe hear Shirly Crow without risking the rest of the top 40...
Oh well. The golden age of FM radio was brief and not very widespread.
OTOH, being able to make a C-90 once a week of music that's possibly
worth listening to more than once is nothing to sneeze at. I don't
care for some of it, but if it was a commercial station, it'd just
be greatest hits of the early 70's, so I can't complain too much
that a lot of it is unfamiliar. And it's necessary to rewind and
replay the tape to decipher the DJ's mumble anyway, another hazard
of college radio... Educational radio... Whatever...
