I had never even heard of British Shorthairs until a friend of mine
rescued some several years ago. Yes, their round faces are adorable,
and without the chronic sinus problems that I understand can plague
Persians. They also have round eyes, round ears, round tails, round
torsos... :-) I'll try to find and post a side-view photo, where the
snubby nose is more obvious.

BTW, legend has it that they were the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's
Cheshire cat, because the shadows under their round cheeks can look
like an extension of their mouths, giving them a grinning appearance.

you'll see photos of Portia and a Cheshire cat toy (click on either
photo to see a larger version), and there's a link to a web page that
shows this effect clearly. I've been tempted to paint Portia with
pink stripes, but have not yet received her assent to that idea...
