Hello Bob, >CH>One thing though never bake anything in an Iron Dutch Oven. ... >JY>Say WHAT?? I'll have you know that there's a farmhouse in >JY>Westville (Georgia; look it up )where three old black >JY>ladies bake buscuits in a a Dutch oven on a hearth in front >JY>of a roaring fire and when they open the lid we have to >JY>grab the biscuits before they fly up and bounce on the >JY>ceiling like helium baloons. Coals under the oven, more >JY>coals on the lid. >JY>And then there's baked beans. put the beans, onions, >JY>tomatoes, and okra in the oven, dig a hole and build a fire >JY>next to the hole. Wehn the fire burns down, push half of >JY>it into the hole, drop the Dutch Oven in and then put the >JY>other half on top of it and forget about it for about 4 >JY>hours.... BK>I have to read this before I even have breakfast? A breakfast of BK>Raisin Bran and Jimmy Dean sausage croissants? You don't want to know what I ate for breakfast. BK>Uh... ever think of the pains of envy you may be inflicting on BK>people? Expand your horizons. Eat some fried grits. BK>You are evil... evil... Nah. That's my evil twin. Not me. :) BK>Do they mail order those biscuits? Ok, I know, wouldn't work... You gotta have biscuits when eating grits. And eggs. But not just any kind of biscuits. It's gotta be those Southern-style homecooked biscuits. Know what I mean? BK>But I had to ask. Ask me no questions, I tell you no lies. BK>Even the beans sound good, and I would not normally eat beans BK>for breakfast. Cold white beans on bread, toast or biscuits makes for a great breakfast. Trust me. I know. And don't forget about the grits. Especially fried grits. Okay, okay. So you don't know how to make fried grits. In which case I'll tell you - Place leftover grits in pan, spreading grits in pan like a pancake. Place pan of grits in refrigerator. Next morning, cut grits into squares. Dip squares of grits in egg, and roll in fish fry. Deep fry until golden brown - about 10 to 20 seconds. Serve warm. --Lee * SLMR 2.1a * This tagline is umop apisdn --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Collin County Station (1:124/6308) SEEN-BY: 633/267 @PATH: 124/6308 5025 106/1 261/38 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
