 That's the way we looked at it.  When our band was popular (Locally) we could
average a gig every 2 weeks, which in a town of only 150,000 isn't too bad!  The
money we got from the bars / sales of cd's was pooled and after our popularity
waned (6 months or so) we had made enough to pay for the equipment we
bought to record the CD. ;)

 Did my share of busking when I was much younger too, mostly in the summer
months while I was still in highschool, then later for spending money.  If my
hand could take it I'd do it again but the pain has pretty much put my guitar
playing on permanent hiatus.
