Sunday:

         Now, there is one other character in this scenario... the Laundry
Lady. We met her at the nursing station about ten days ago, before the
previous events occurred.  This is the sort of person I get along with very
well.  She notices a problem... she has an idea about how it can be
remedied... but she doesn't barge in & take over on the assumption that
everybody else wants to do things her way. She asked whether we'd mind if
she gave my mother some clothing which fastens at the back.  I said I'd be
delighted, and thankyou very much!  This takes a lot of pressure off me.  I
can browse the thrift shops at leisure & take time to ensure I've
grasped the concept before I attempt to purchase more of the same.  It will
keep my mother happy too.  She won't be worried about how much her clothing
cost if & when anything gets messed up... meaning she won't be afraid
to use it.  And if she doesn't like what I've found, no matter.  She'll
believe the hospital has supplied it... so she'll say what she really
thinks.  I made such an arrangement with the social worker at the other
place, and it worked like a charm... [grin].

         When we visited my mother on Sunday, she was in bed.  There was a
dress on her wheelchair which I hadn't seen before.  I enquired casually as
to whether she liked it... and she said she did.  So did I, as a matter of
fact.  I suspect the Laundry Lady quietly produced it from an obscure
corner of the basement.  No drama, no making work for others.  I understand
her choice & I can relate to her interpersonal style.  Thank heaven for
the Laundry Ladies of the world....  :-))
