Hi Barbara,
-> JT>It fascinates me too, Barbara- I read "The Hot Zone" too. The
-> most JT>horrific part to me was when they realized the monkeys were
-> getting it JT>through the AIR DUCTS too. I hope those vets will come
-> up with some new JT>insight into avian viruses.
-> Yep I caught onto that too, about which pens the monkeys infection
-> was spreading too. Of course there can be many vectors,such as common
-> people servicing the pens.
I don't remember exactly WHY they concluded that the virus had spread
through the air ducts- I'll read that part again. I believe they had
taken precautions against the spread by people servicing the pens. Of
course, the disease could have already been contracted and dormant
before they began the precautions. I'd like the think that it didn't
get passed through the ducts- airborn diseases are REAL scary. You
mentioned before, I believe, the possible similarity between this ebola
and polyoma. Can polyoma be transmitted from one room to another
through common air ducts?
-> JT>What are kakarikis????
-> They are birds from New Zealand. They look rather like a grass keet
-> but more personality and more like a parrot.
I'm continually amazed by the wealth of wonderful birds from that part
of the world. How did you come to have the kakarikis? They must be
very rare in this country.
-> poing one doc thought that Ed had Muscular Dystrophy and I
-> panicked. Turned out to be a collapsed disk instead. Bad enough but
-> not as bad as all that.
I'm breathing a sigh of relief with you. It's incredibly sad to watch a
person you love deteriorate in what should be their prime. So who
builds the bird cages in your family? You must be getting good at
construction work like some of the rest of us women here (winking at
Fran).
