I don't know where you get this idea from, but next to belts and other

rubber parts, the motors in VCR's would be the next most common part

to fail. If anything, the motors in the newer machines are failing far

more, and far sooner than those in the older machines.  However, this

could be due to the fact that they tend to use smaller motors these

days, and drive far more mechanics with them..  ie, one motor in

modern machines are doing the same job as 2 or 3 seperate motors in

the older designs.
