Yes after I wrote it I saw it:-(  He has to use sysedit (use the run window 
and enter 'sysedit' ) and change a line in the INI files, (yes sysedit does 
exist in windows 3.x).  But it's been so long;-( not using windows 3.x I do 
not remember which file that line is in.  Also he should check his startup 
group and remove any program that is in the startup group that he nolonger 
wishs to run when starting windows.
