Maybe, in his own eyes...

Consider this: In the 60's IIRC one of the European countries
switched from driving on the left to driving on the right. If one
of the motorists had said "It's not my fault that the rest of the
country has changed and I haven't" would he have a case?

And in the case of Netscape 3? That's ancient stuff indeed! I
suspect it may be even older than Arachne 1.0.

But if the servers have been so much upgraded, how is it that
Netscape 3 dated 1996 can still work, and yet the latest version
of Arachne, 1.71UE01 dated 12/12/02, cannot?

IMO that points to a weakness in Arachne.

But thanks to some correspondents in the arachne newsgroup, the
problem of doing my FTP uploads is now solved. It took one hell
of while to get everything sorted out to the point where it would
work.

Now I can open Arachne and connect, then shell out to the FTP
client, do my up- or downloading and come back to Arachne at my
leisure ;-)
