John Holinsworth had the guts to utter the following to All!
JH> If my reciever had 6 ohm(minimum) speaker outputs, and I was running 4
JH> ohm speakers. Would that damage the speakers or the reciever?
It COULD damage the reciever's amp. At the least, the reciever's going to
run hotter than it would with 6 ohm speakers.
JH> Can someone explain to me the difference in a 4 ohm to a an 8 ohm?
A 4 ohm speaker will let the power through twice as easy as an 8 ohm..
6-8 ohm speakers are typically used in home applications, and 4 ohm
speakers usually in car audio. I have no idea what pro audio uses though.
