It was a case of "We'll give you market value for every semi-automatic rifle/shotgun/handgun (and a few other types of firearms)." When it was over, someone did a lot of figuring, using the records that had been kept since 1920 and deduced that the government might have removed as much as 10% of the firearms from the country. Now, given that the guy that shot up Virginia Tech was suicidal, I have to wonder if he would have planned his attack on a segment of the population hwere he might find as few as 50% of the people, or as much as 100%, armed and willing to shoot back. No, he wouldn't. He wanted to become a historic event but he'd have been killed after the first shot and branded just another nutcase wanna-be murderer, not a successful serial killer. A twist on "fame and notoriety", hm? --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag* Origin: The Eastern Star BBS (1:123/1011) SEEN-BY: 633/267 @PATH: 123/1011 500 379/1 633/267 |
