Just paid my bill for the 1997 Red Sox season.
Red Sox increased their prices this year...
Grandstand seats are now $16 and bleachers are $10.
Box seats (and they have "paintbrushed" thousands of
seats in Fenway into "box seats" all the way out to
stopping short of the bleachers) I think are now $22.
How are prices doing in other cities.
Their reasons to justify the increase:
1) Reduced TV revenues
2) revenue sharing - they are a "large market team"
but playing in a bandbox park
3) increased expenses, etc.
And, they didn't say it, but they receive minimal
parking revenue (they don't own the lots, and there
is ample on-street parking if you're willing to
walk), reduced concessions (inner city parks compete
with street vendors and restaurants in the neighbor-
hood), and even low revenue from their program -
the "unofficial" program, Boston Baseball, outsells
the official Red Sox program, reportedly.
Other cities?
