I knew someone in the US who had 18 cards and in the end could not pay the
bills anymore so they were consolidated into one single debt. She had to
sell her house which she managed to squeeze out of a divorce and is
paying-off the balance over the next 20 years.
 
Credit cards only make sense if you have the means to cover the debt, as is
in your and my case. But some people believe it is a magical and unlimited
treasure chest.
