subject: LAPTOP BATTERY

->
-> I found out later that she was running the laptop on line
-> voltage nearly all the time.I told her that a rechargable
-> battery should be discharged or it would SET at a high
-> voltage point.I told her to run WITHOUT the battery.
-> Since her rechargable loses about 1 % voltage per day,
-> I suggest she leave the battery out and recharge it about
-> once a month or before she needs to go off house voltage.

 Be very carefull of running a Laptop withouth the Battery using hte
External Power Adapter. Some require the Battery to Stabilize the
Extreemly Cheap AC adapters adapters used.
 And NaMH and Li-ion Batteries DO NOT need discharge cycles like the
NiCads did so they will not go bad.
The point about the Self discharge is a good one though. I usualy Top
Off batteries every 4 months or so on Seldom used equipment.
