They need to come up with new stories and not rehash the old themes. I don't
want to see more "Q" and "Borg" themes. Let's start to
explore and "Go Where
No Man Has Gone Before" rather than rewrite all the old stories. They also
have to get away from the Uhura / Spock romance too. It was a bad idea
totally out of character for Spock. Time to see the other characters beside
Kirk and Spock develop. The little "imp" that follows Scotty
around needs to
go to.
They really got off on the wrong foot and I don't know now if two movies into
the "new Trek" they can right the ship and get back on course. Perhaps the
next movie could show that this was a parallel universe and close that opening
then they can get back to being the characters, (but not the old rehashed
stories), the we all loved and grew up with.
I accept them as the characters, they did a good job casting them, in fact in
the second movie in some of the shots of Chris Pine I was saying to myself he
could have been a young Shatner. They looked like brothers even twins. But
they did a poor job with the story lines they wrote and now it may be too
late to close that book. If so then the next movie may be the last.
