Well, my husband & I attended a meeting with Lisa's school psychologist
this morning.  He told us that Lisa's problems are wide and vast.  He
gave us a very gloom and doom scenario about Lisa's life and future, at
least from my standpoint.  He said that because she has had brain
trauma, that she has brain cells that have been destroyed.  This causes
her to act irrationally, not plan things out, and basically get out of
control.  He told us that Lisa cannot get much beyond this stuff.  I
just plain disagree.  I have seen Lisa learn to think things out
(planning).  Sure, she's way below most other kids her age, but she's
also been through hell and back during her less than 13 years.  He also
accused her natural mother, my husband's ex-wife of abusing drugs and
alcohol during the pregnancy.  Well, both my husband and I went to her
defense, which felt real weird, and told him that the people she was
living with during the pregnancy would not have encouraged or even
allowed any drug or alcohol abuse.  Lisa was SEVERELY abused by her
step-father.  He treated both of my husband's kids terrible.  He really
resented the fact that they were even alive.  Well, I would still love
to see a checklist on ADD/ADHD.  I would like to be able to help my
husband if aI am able.
