subject: Harm from DosExit?

CH> In a C program, is there any harm in calling DosExit
CH> directly instead of using exit()? I know I shouldn't

The only problem I can think of is that exit() will fflush() all of your
open file streams, and DosExit() won't.

Additionally (depending on how they were implemented in your
compiler),atexit/onexit functions may not be called.

If you have fclosed all of your file streams, and you're not using
atexit(), I would not worry about using DosExit().

However --- the fact that exit() is getting stuck may be a sign that there
is a bug in your program -- for example, the heap is corrupted. Try
calling _heapchk [or whatever your compiler provides] just before the
exit() and see what it has to say.
