Hi G GG> I've been requested to ask those in the know (which you may be) if the GG> Leonid (in Dec), Persides (in Aug) are visible from Oz. If I mucked up GG> the spelling, I apologise in advance. If not, I'll try again sometime. I'm no meteor buff, but here's a guess or two: Leo is pretty close to the ecliptic, so we'd see meteors from there reasonably well. Perseus, however, is about 45 degrees north, so it doesn't rise very far. Meteors from there would hit here at a much shallower angle than they'd hit you, so we'd see fewer of them. I'd say some would still be visible, though. Both constellations reach their highest point at about 5am in the months you mention (we get more meteors in the morning, that's the front end of the earth as it goes round the sun.) This may explain why I'm not a meteor buff... Cheers --- PPoint 1.88* Origin: Silicon Heaven (3:711/934.16) SEEN-BY: 711/808 934 @PATH: 711/934 |
