There have been a few other multi-sweater
players, though I don't recall any of their
names. Bo Jackson? Yeah, he was one. Also
Danny Ainge. Edited to add: Deion; I am not
living under such a big rock as I thought.

Hence your championing of him, rather than
because of an affinity with the Jets!

When I read the newspapers back when, it was
considered a sure thing that he consorted with
and was likely influenced by the same crowd of
bad guys that Sinatra and a lot of others
(including many of the team owners) did. It
was also considered likely that the Super Bowl
had been tampered with, though reading about it
just now it becomes clear that if there was a
fix in, it would have involved the opposing
quarterback, not Namath.
Back in more innocent times I'd not have
suspected a smear against him, but more recent
examination indicates that there were those
who would try to get after him for his
unorthodox private life by making rumors about
his unorthodox public life.

Mmm. Now all they have to do is make the
recipe taste better.

> Servings: 6
Okay, so what do you do with the other 4 people?
Rosalynn Carter's Southern Fried Chicken
categories: celebrity, political, poultry, main
servings: 6
2 qt vegetable shortening
3 whole frying chickens (2 1/2 lb ea)
2 c flour
2 Tb white cornmeal
2 Tb salt
2 ts fresh ground white pepper
In a large, well-seasoned cast-iron skillet,
heat shortening to 375F. Wash chickens and dry
well. Cut each into 8 serving pieces. In a
large mixing bowl, combine flour with cornmeal,
salt, and pepper; dredge chicken and set on
paper towels. Fry chicken in hot oil, turning
to brown evenly on all sides. (This will take
from 10 to 12 min; white meat will cook faster
than dark meat.) As each piece becomes golden
brown and tender, transfer to paper towels to
drain. Keep chicken hot until serving in a
preheated 350F oven; set well drained pieces
on an ovenproof serving platter on middle
shelf with the door slightly ajar. For cold
fried chicken allow to cool, then wrap
tightly and refrigerate overnight.
