1237c39aa604 tech Hello Tom - --8<--cut TW> There are Two Main Reason. IBM and Compaq did it to TW> Discourage the Casula Home user form repairing theri own TW> Computers. Rembember most companies madker MORE money with TW> Maintenance Contracts then Sales. What you are saying is probably true but it is also difficult to warranty anything that the customer is 'fiddling' with. Been there, done that. TW> In the Appliance area it is more a matter of trying to TW> avoid liability Law Suits. Making the device hard to open TW> shifts the Blame of the Electricution of the Stupid Home TW> Handy toward the User a bit. :-) :-) It might be worth mentioning that there are many kitchens that do not have proper circuit breaker type wall sockets installed and that should be 'fixed'. All of these units are not up to the task and you get what you pay for. I can imagine that it is possible to try to 'rig' an electrical appliance in ways that would cause it's use to be unsafe with the possibility of shorts to those using the appliance. People still shove forks into toasters to retrieve a piece of toast. It happens. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
