Having confronted Dr. Rogier, Jan Willem Walraven Borst, International Man Of
Mystery, exclaimed:
ED>RV> Vulcans - West-european
ED>
ED> You guys really think highly of yourselves, don't you?
RVe> Well, do you have a better option?
Yes, clearly the alien species in Star Trek do not represent
different cultures but different aspects of humanity found in every
culture. Now some of alien do draw from cultures here on Earth in an
effort to flesh them out. Vulcans draw from Asian cultures, Romulans
are based almost entirely on the ancient Romans, the Klingons originally
were drawing from the Mongols and now are drawing from North American
aboriginal cultures and the Kazon were based on United States inner
city gangs.
However many of the races are arch-types, Vulcans are logical,
Klingons are violent, Romulans are sneaky, Ferengi are greedy, and
Bajorans are pious. All are aspects of all of humanity.
Besides I keep up with the news coming out of West Europe and to
say that West Europeans are `logical' is laughable...
Sincerely Yours
