Acuma told me that the RAM prices had dropped, which was why
they STILL don't have the RAM to sell me. I checked Memory
World again, and got the following prices:
70ns fast page = $424.56
60ns fast page = $457.50
60ns EDO = $457.50!
So now EDO is no longer more expensive than fast page from the
same place. However, I have a price of $380 from yet another
place for the 70ns. So 60ns Memory World EDO is 20% more
expensive than Yum Cha 70ns fast page. However, normal Yum
Cha will give me 60ns fast page for the same price as 70ns
fast page, but won't tell me what the new price is, and won't
sell me EDO.
Anyway, 0-20% is nowhere near double. Whether 20% hike for 10%
performance gain is worth it is another question. On the likely
assumption that that is where the bottleneck is on my processing,
perhaps it is worth it. BFN. Paul.
