 There are Two Main Reason. IBM and Compaq did it to Discourage the
Casula Home user form repairing theri own Computers. Rembember most
companies madker MORE money with Maintenance Contracts then Sales. 
In the Appliance area it is more a matter of trying to avoid liability
Law Suits. Making the device hard to open shifts the Blame of the
Electricution of the Stupid Home Handy toward the User a bit.  :-)  :-)
