DW> What is the best brand of VCR to buy, I'll be in the market sometime

 RG> Sharp or Phillips.

ta.

DW> reasonably cheap, good quality and reliable.
 RG> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

RG> This is an oxymoron... 'cheap' and 'good quality' rarely, if ever go
RG> together in the same sentence.

A girl can hope, cant she 8-)

 DW> Nothing more than $600..

RG> You shouldn't have to pay this much for a 'cheap' but 'good' machine.
RG> Those being sold for around $600 and up, are generally LP and/or HIFI
RG> machines these days, and it appears you want neither.

nope, the last things I have been recording are "Dancing In The
Streets" and
this is why I know I need a new VCR.

RG> For general day to day record/playback, a simple 2 headed machine will
RG> suffice, and you shouldn't have any trouble finding a Sharp/Phillips
RG> machine of this type for somewhat less than $500.

I shall keep my eyes open.

RG> Avoid Akai's, Samsungs, and anything made in Taiwan or Korea.

I have a samsung now, and it's 3 years old.

When I get this new VCR what is the best way of keeping the heads clean

a cleaning tape or what?
