Dunno, Rod will likely know.  All my boards have supported LBA here.

You'd notice the speed improvement with an upgrade to even a DX4/120 then.

Not really, those Simverters work quite well, and only cost around $22 each.

I stayed with VLB because I already had the cards, and didn't want to have
to buy another video card (most PCI boards have embedded EIDE I/O these
days), but you'll certainly be hard-pressed finding one which takes 30-pin
SIMMs, or even a mixture, as they all have 72-pin slots these days.
