Another fix is to have a furnace with a continuous fan function.
That way living room fireplace heat gets sent to the furnace through
the cold air return system and distributed throughout the whole
house.
That's very common in my part of the world where many homes have
either an air-tight wood stove or a pellet stove for auxiliary or
back-up heat.

Yield: 6 Servings
1 lg Box lemon or lime Jello
1 lg Can Spam
1 md Onion, chopped
1/2 c Boiling water
1/2 c Ice cold water
1/2 c Mayonnaise
1/2 c Sour cream
1/2 Bell pepper, chopped
4 Hard boiled eggs, chopped
1/4 c Relish (pickle, corn, etc.)
2 Stalks celery, finely
-chopped
2 dr Tabasco
Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Add cold water, mayonnaise and
sour cream to Jello. Chop Spam; add to Jello with remaining
ingredients. Chill until firm. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
