I'm afraid to tell you but this is "standard" law enforcement practice. It is
easy to set someone up (especially a kid) than go after the REAL dealers etc.
(Who most likely are paying off the police for protection etc). No guns, or
violence is involved and it is a easy setup and bust. Ever wonder why you
never hear of the DEA or anyone going after the Crips or Bloods in LA?
Why get hurt when you can bust innocent people you entrap?
Please be aware the courts most likely could care less - pretty much whatever
the DA and prosecuter says is gospel. This person was most likely charged
with "conspiracy" - you don't have to know, touch, deal or have virtually any
association with the people doing the deal - you're just involved and
"guilty".
This is one of the reasons this echo is around is to promote awareness not
just for medicial marijuana but also as a forum for such issues as you find
yourself in.
I did 1 year many years ago for "attempted possession" - so I can relate to
the situation.
The only way out of this is probably a HIGH priced lawyer and even then there
is no guarantee of "justice" You may or may not be aware that standard
entrapment procedures were used against "militia" members in Georgia. Gov't
agents plotted, planted evidence lied and harrassed some people and even with
details of this brought out in court they were found "guilty".
The War on Drugs mentality has now hit home for you - I only hope your
frineds son isn't given some time for his role in this "conspiracy".
Conspiracy is the Pandora's prosecutors magic box....
