Hello Vladimir.

10 May 06 16:03, you wrote to me:

Of course. But theos with only a 14k4 modem connection won't subscribe would they?

VD> I wrote there - best of FIDO verse Internet is controlling

Hmmm. some would say control is one of the BAD sides of Fidonet...

VD> and moderating, and un-anonymousing in FIDO. Do you understand me?

Sure I understand you. But you will find that Fiodo over IP is a mixed
blessing. It gave us the power to free us from conTrol freaks and get our
eChomail where we want. The downside is that moderating international areas
like these has become next to impossible as it is next to impossible to cut
the feed of a determined and knowledgible user. You can see it demonstrated
right here.

As for the real name issue, since I discovered that many so called
international echos are gated into the InterNet and its content is indexed
by the search engines, I am having second thoughts about it. I am not all
that enthousiastic about finding on the InterNet what I wrote five years
ago in Fido: under my real name...

Actually you did not write that, but it is all right. maybe I will show up
one of these days... ;-)

Yeah, I know these blurbs. What you describe is how it *was*. Connect
FIDONEWS or FN_SYSOP and see how it is now. :-(

VD> Second advantage FIDONET is basic absence of any necessity for

Yes, that is how it was designed. But with a continues connection, it works
a lot better...

Again: that is how it *was*....
