-> The relay that "picks up" the phone line. I'm actually assuming that
-> that is what has happened to it; if you plug an active phone line
-> into it, the speaker on the modem emits the dial tone, and while it
-> thinks it's dialing, it doesn't. We didn't have tone service then,
-> at all, so I didn't even try. I'll have to dig it out and see what
-> happens; it won't be able to hang up, is my guess.
SK> Wait, if you get a dialtone, it's picking up the phone, right?
Not really; it already has the phone off-hook when the line is plugged
into the modem. And it doesn't put it on-hook when given the hangup command,
so you'd have to unplug it to put the phone "on-hook".
My SupraFax 14.4 has recently started to unexpectedly reset itself,
isplaying
all of the LEDs lit for a few seconds, then (usually) either the top or
middle row lit, and then "OK". Sometimes both top and middle rows are
lit, and sometimes it needs to be powercycled to reset. I was wondering
if there was something being sent throught the serial port that was causing
this, but it's been disconnected from the serial port, and I just saw it
do it again, so that's not it. Something on the phone line, or is it
just finally losing it from old age?
I've put it back "on its feet", but that hasn't helped and probably didn't
cause the problem, either.
