Not to be too cynical but one might wonder if the board wasn't revised to include some longterm failure mechanism. What I do when space permits is to simply flip the electro to the under side of the board. I did that to the old vcr's fluorescent display DC-DC converter module circuit. This circuit had a tendency to cook electros to a crisp. I haven't needed to replace any electros in there since and amazed routine testing showed they were still fine. What a difference in reliability simply relocating a part can make! Mike **** ...
