No, because the charge was never for Fido anymore than one now pays for the
Internet. Instead, the charge was for part of the cost that one person
paid for a feed or for the Planet Connect feed. I never had to participate
in a cost recovery plan but instead ran up sizeable long distance bills.

I can recall the privacy of netmail being raised as early as 1990 followed
by the hot and heavy debates over SecureMail.

How did you keep in touch with people? Netmail even allowed me to send
e-mail by sending a netmail message to the FidonetInternet gate.
That was one part of Fidonet I really miss.
