Hi Michael,

ML> Since pretty much everything I read is P.D.,
ML> and fonts and faces aren't massively relevant
ML> to me, it's almost all without cost.

I read a mix of paper and pixel, some costing, some free.

ML> Traveling is well nigh impossible these days,
ML> so American Express is giving its higher-
ML> priced-spread members free subscriptions to
ML> various upscale magazines in addition to its
ML> house brand Departures; Lilli has Vanity Fair

That's a magazine I don't think I've ever seen anything but a cover of.
I used to subscribe to Good Housekeeping but let that subscription
expire about 6 years ago when they slid downhill in quality at a rapid
pace. Used to also get Reader's Digest but let that go after they
declined, tho not as bad as GH.

ML> as one of her choices, and I looked at one

ML> printed on" conclusion, taking a brief moment
ML> (redundancy?) of silence to mourn for all the
ML> trees cut down for the purpose.

Some people like the magazine; I wouldn't have the faintest idea of what
they're about (fashion?) but doubt it would interest me.

ML> I tend to just stare at the walls if it's
ML> just a few minutes, though recently I've
ML> found cute women a little distracting, now
ML> that I can see them at the distance of more
 ML> than a couple feet.

Not an issue for me. (G) The waiting area for my primary care doctor has
a big screen "aquarium", fun to watch the first time I was there but not
as interesting now. I generally bring a book.

ML> One of many reasons why I dislike and
ML> distrust the TV. I don't have any evidence
ML> on what Mr. Brown is like in real life (of
ML> course didn't talk to him on the plane),
ML> but there's nothing in his television
ML> hyperenergetic mishmosh of plausible and
ML> totally off the wall that would make me
 ML> want to find out.

He could be just as interesting in real life--you lost your chance to
find out. (G)

ML> Oh, yeah, you can, but it takes more gumption.

OK, some you can walk away from but when it's family and you're
travelling somewhere in the car, you can't walk away.

ML> Pretty much. I ended up (see earlier packet)
ML> making an apple crumble for Lilli for Christmas
ML> dinner. I prefer them to cobblers anyway, anyhow
ML> the textured topping vs. the biscuity one.

We used a mix for this, had made their apple crisp mix earlier in the
year and liked it but were less than impressed here. I'll stick with my
usual recipe at home, maybe mix up the dry ingredients in a zip bag to
take in the camper.

ML> Mine was vaguely like this but used all oats (no
ML> flour), Fuji apples, and regular butter, no added
ML> salt. I fried the oats in a little butter first.

Sounds good.

ML> Old Fashioned Easy Apple Crisp
 ML> Categories: desserts, holiday
 ML> Servings: 6

Also good if you throw a handful of raisins in with the apples.
