Basicly you did the right thing. I've used the same method to display
coloued text before I discovered PRESPARAMS ;-)

I can see two options why it didn't work for you

1. Timing - When do you display the text ?   I did it when I received a WM_PAINT
2. hwnd - Did you get the hps from the right hwnd ??
