Hi Michael,
ML> > We each have our own tastes. Reading a condensed chapter of
ML> Michener's > "Hawaii" whetted my appetite for more of his books so now
ML> I've read most > of them. I'd rather read something like that than a
ML> Harlequin romance.
ML> My mother was a fan of Michener's as
ML> well, especially Iberia. As a result,
ML> I dipped vaguely into his work, but
I've enjoyed a number of his books and have a shelf full (all but one in
paperback) of them. I looked into getting them for the Nook but they
only sell abridged versions there. Most of my collection was free or for
minimal cost, scrounged from used book sources, and nothing abridged.
ML> the only thing that resonated with me
ML> was Presidential Lottery. Harlequin
ML> romances, never seen the inside of one.
They're not worth the paper they're printed on IMO.
ML> > ML> take Lilli's phone and play Word Connect
ML> > ML> upon it. On the east coast, read Bonnie's
ML> > ML> and Word Life.
ML> > I don't have any games on my phone but will browse the internet
ML> > sometimes if I've no other "entertainment".
ML> My pretty much only searches on the phone
ML> are "hourly weather" and "sdge outage."
I'll check the weather and other things that I want to fill a couple of
minutes (too little time to pick up a book or whatever).
ML> > ML> Like one, you'll likely like the other. But
ML> > ML> I was referring to putting both in the same
ML> > ML> dish, which would be overkill and seasonally
ML> > ML> senseless as well.
ML> > Doesn't pass the sense check.
ML> > ML> > ML> turns out it was he, and he did eat the
ML> > ML> > ML> airplane chicken.
ML> > ML> > Surprise!
ML> Actually, I shouldn't fault the guy for
ML> needing nourishment on a 10 hour flight,
ML> and I'd no doubt have thought less of him
ML> if he had fussed to the help about the
ML> food, which is expected not to be great.
ML> > ML> tttt, not totally.
ML> > About what I thought.
ML> The thing is that his TV personas are so
ML> contradictory, and the nerdy yet vapid
ML> presenter doesn't match well with the
ML> supposed scientist and knowhow person.
ML> I find them both kind of silly and
ML> suspect they're a bit of a fake anyway.
A schtick, developed to get and hopefully keep people's attention on the
tv.
ML> > ML> If that were true, things would get done.
ML> > ML> In real life they're loud enough to annoy
ML> > ML> you but still not loud enough for the PTB
ML> > ML> to pay attention to.
ML> > So we have to listen to them complain that nobody's listening.
ML> You don't. As I remind Lilli when she gets
ML> exercised at the Chicken Littles and hype
ML> artists on Facebook and the community lists,
ML> Just Say No. Unplug the phone and walk away.
Can't do that if the one ranting is doing so in person.
ML> > ML> Sweet Green Tomato Pie
ML> > We're going to do a peach cobbler for Christmas dinner dessert.
ML> Brown sugar pound cake
ML> categories: celebrity, desserts
ML> yield: 1
Guaranteed to put on the pounds?
