subject: Speed Disk problem

Hello All,

On November 13th 2004, I posted the following in the NORTON Fidonet echo
area:

Hello All,

I ran Norton's Speed Disk and have encountered some problems that tell me
to run CALIBRAT /NOFORMAT... I've run Calibrat and the next time I run
Speed Disk, I'm still getting the run Calibrat /Noformat message. Would
someone please tell me why Calibrat is not correcting the problems (Speed
Disk will not completely optimize the hard drives when it encounters the
problems) and how I might run Speed Disk to completion?

           Thanks ... Gerald

I would presume that I am the only person posting / reading in the NORTON
echo area so I am cross posting into the BATPOWER echo area in the hope of
obtaining some response...

The versions of Speed Disk and Calibrat that I am using are the ones that
are included with the Norton Utilities version 8.0, circa 1999.

I have tried:

  For %%drv in (C: D: E: F:) do calibrat %drv /noformat
  For %%drv in (C: D: E: F:) do calibrat %drv /noseek /noformat
  For %%drv in (C: D: E: F:) do calibrat %drv /noformat /pattern:%1
  For %%drv in (C: D: E: F:) do calibrat %drv /noseek /noformat /pattern:%1
  (where %1 is either 0, 5, 40, or 80)

and I am still unable to run Speed Disk to completion because I am still
receiving the "run CALIBRAT /NOFORMAT" message.

Is there some other program that I can use to correct the problems that
Calibrat is not able to deal with?

           Thanks ... Gerald
